General overview...

Catalinaís new 309 is a cruiser/club-racer combining good performance and great accommodation with contemporary lines and style.

The interior feels much larger than her 31-feet. An easy descent (no steep ladder!) into a very roomy interior reveals an enclosed aft cabin, comfortable v-berth, sit down chart table, spacious head and 6'2" headroom. The salon seats six with a symmetrical folding table.

This is a perfect charter yacht for two couples or a family, she's easy to sail short handed, and slips along with surprising speed and grace.

Accommodations

The forward cabin has a large V berth with standing changing area clothes cupboard and has a closing door for privacy and an entry to the head and shower.

The Aft cabin is just as spacious with a closing door, stand-up changing area and plenty of cupboard space to store your belongings.

The head and shower room is remarkably large, larger than most yachts in our fleet with separate shower and toilet area, hot and cold water, wash basin and electric shower drain pump.

Galley

The galley is equipped with a gimbaled combination hob and oven, twin wash sinks and a modern electric front loading refrigerator with and separate top loading ice box.

Cupboard space is plentiful even with all of the galley gear safely stowed there remains plenty of space to stow provisions within easy reach and the U shaped format of the cabinetry provides for excellent support for cooking even underway in a sizable sea.

Cockpit

The Catalina 309 cockpit will amaze you, it is larger than most 40ft yachts has a walk through transom, and possibly the best sitting area of all is the port and starboard pushpit seats.

This cockpit easily seats six people and if you prone to sleeping outside under the starts youíll love the cockpit cushions and thereís enough space to stretch out.

Rig and handling

The Catalina 309 is full of surprises, the Seldon fractional rig delivers heaps of power and even in light winds she glides along effortlessly.

Seldons new in-mast furling system is a winner; it works beautifully and makes reefing a breeze and makes hauling halyards a thing of the past and with itís 140% genoa running down wind almost makes the main sail redundant.

The Anchor system is been modified from standard to include a large chain anchor and electric anchor windlass making anchoring a simple task.

The tender is towed and has sufficient space for 6 adults for short journeys and is powered with a 5hp outboard engine.
